What is the Art of Recovery?
The Art of Recovery (AOR) is a nonclinical program offered by SMHC in which clients work as equal partners with professional artists to create original artwork.
Artwork completed within AOR will be displayed and sold at a final Art of Recovery Event sometime in late spring–May or June (Date TBD). A Preview Show of final artwork may also be held at a date and location still to be determined.
There are no “rules” regarding how teams should collaborate provided individual participants are satisfied. As needed, trained SMHC staff will assist teams in defining the nature of their collaboration–where artwork will be created, how often participants expect to meet, transportation issues, etc.
In return for donating their time and helping promote AOR (encourage friends to attend final event, etc.), SMHC and NHAA will provide numerous opportunities for artists to receive exposure through press releases, newspaper articles, Facebook and website postings, and E-blasts, and possible exhibitions at select sponsors’ office/retail locations leading up to the final event.
